OC Questions Generator

What would your character refuse to borrow? Who gets the honest answer? Start with five questions about the part of your OC you are trying to write.

5 selections from the free curated collection

  1. 1

What do they replace immediately, even when money is tight?

  2. 2

Which ordinary chore do they put off until someone notices?

  3. 3

What do they carry that has outlived its practical use?

  4. 4

What would a visitor notice about their kitchen?

  5. 5

Which small sound tells them they are home?

A starting point

What do they replace immediately, even when money is tight? Who is allowed to interrupt their usual routine? What small rule would they break for a friend?

Questions that lead to choices

A favorite color can be useful, but it rarely carries a scene by itself. A question about what the character repairs, avoids, lends, or keeps gives them something to do. Answer with a small event if a personality label feels too broad. You can disagree with the question and still find a good detail.

Build the part you need today

The question bank is split into daily life, motives, relationships, and the surrounding world. Use daily life for a quiet scene, or motives when a character has a decision to make. There is no complete-profile score. Five considered answers are more useful than filling every category without a story in mind.

Keep the answer in your own voice

These are selected questions, not AI-written answers about your character. A new batch changes the prompts, not the facts of your OC. Save an answer you like in the worksheet, then test it against another person or a practical obstacle. If the answer does not survive the scene, change it.

Questions writers ask

Are the OC questions generated by AI?

No. This free tool draws from an original curated question bank. It does not use your credits or send a character profile to an AI provider.

Will every batch be different?

Questions are unique within a batch. The next batch avoids the previous batch when the selected category has enough questions, but a finite question bank will eventually repeat.

Can I use these questions for a fan character?

Yes. Keep established facts separate from your answers when the character belongs to an existing story. For a new OC, revise the answers whenever the story needs it.
